Effective 21 September 2026. This policy covers the website naapi.in, the installed web app, and the Naapi app on Google Play (package in.naapi.app), which shows the same site inside Chrome. "We" means the developer named on the Google Play listing, who runs naapi.in.
The short version: your maps, plots and measurements never leave your device. The server keeps a small usage log for six months, the accounts the owner creates, and the sheets uploaded to the shared library. There is no advertising, no analytics service and no sale of data.
What stays on your device
Everything you work on. The map file you open (a PDF, a scan or a photograph), the plots you draw, the scale, the divisions, saved projects and the printed report are held in the browser's storage on your own phone or computer, and go nowhere else. A position from the phone's GPS is used on the device to place points on the map and is not sent to naapi.in. Photographs taken with the camera are used the same way. Clearing the site's data in the browser, or uninstalling the app, removes all of it.
What the server receives
A usage note. When the app is used it sends a short note to naapi.in, so that the owner can see that the service works and how much it is used: the time, what was done (the app was opened, a map was opened, a report was printed or exported, a library sheet was opened), the name of the file involved, your IP address and the browser or app version. The note never includes the map itself, the plots or any measurement. Notes are kept for 180 days and then deleted. If you are signed in, the note carries your username.
Accounts. There is no public sign-up. The owner creates accounts for the people who manage the shared library, storing a username, a hashed password and a role. An account is kept until the owner deletes it. Signing in sets one cookie that keeps you signed in for 30 days; the app sets no other cookies.
Library uploads. A map sheet that a signed-in user uploads to the shared library is stored on the server, with the district, anchal, mauza and sheet details given at upload, until it is removed.
Server logs. Like any website, the web server records each request (the address requested, the time, your IP address and browser type) for security and fault-finding, in log files that are rotated.
Google Maps
The satellite layer is optional and loads only when you open it, and only where the owner has enabled it. It is served by Google Maps, so at that moment Google receives what any Google Maps page receives: the area of the map you are viewing, your IP address, and the text of a place search if you type one. Google's own privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy) applies to that. Naapi sends Google nothing about your plots, and nothing at all while the satellite layer is closed.
What Naapi does not do
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No analytics or tracking service, and no third-party script other than Google Maps while the satellite layer is open.
- No selling, renting or sharing of data with anyone.
- No access to your contacts, messages, photos or files beyond the file you choose to open or the photograph you choose to take.
Permissions the Android app asks for
Camera, when you choose to photograph a map. Location, when you choose to place points with GPS or walk a boundary; it is used on the device only. Files, when you open or save a map, a project or a report. Each permission is requested the first time its feature is used and can be refused; the rest of the app works without it.
Children
Naapi is a land-records tool for adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Your choices and rights
- Everything on your device can be deleted by you at any time: clear the site's data in the browser, or uninstall the app.
- To have the usage notes tied to your IP address, or an account and its data, deleted sooner than the schedule above, write to us. We will do it within 30 days and confirm.
- You may ask what we hold about you. The server stores no names or e-mail addresses for visitors, so records can be found only by the username or the IP address you give us.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published here with a new date. A material change is also noted in the app's release notes.
